The Unofficial Site

Metal Gear Solid: The Unofficial Site is not just a name or just a site; it’s more of a figurative vessel for the love of a group of people part of post modernistic digital art, carrying the simple and the most complicated ideas at the same time and name - Metal Gear Solid.

"Building the future and keeping the past alive are one and the same thing."
     -- Hideo Kojima

This website is always stumbling to this thought and idea. Isn’t our past which we use to shape future, communicate with humans and make relations to build the future together? What will be point of our existence if the future does not know the past?

The Metal Gear games deserve to be passed on to the future. Remembered, loved, and relived by the future generations and the younger gamers.

"The 'I' is not just one person, but the sum of everything you love - your dog, your wife, your child, your computer, your doll. This led me to the conclusion that the self is empty. What is essential is this network of connections."
     -- Mamoru Oshii

In this matter of speaking, we envision and hope Metal Gear Solid: The Unofficial Site to be loved by you and be part of your “self.”

Thank you for visiting and enjoy your stay!

Our Goals

Metal Gear Solid: The Unofficial Site was created back in September, 2004 with one primary goal - to enhance the experience of the millions of MGS fans around the world by providing a site worthy of the name ‘Metal Gear’. This was also the reason behind choosing the name Metal Gear Solid: The Unofficial Site - MGS:TUS looks more like an abbreviation of a Metal Gear Solid game, than a website. We want to create a website that stands out from rest of the media relating to Metal Gear Series. We want a site that can compete with additional media related to the series like, strategy guides, action figures, digital novels, comic books and so forth. We want MGS:TUS to be part of the whole Metal Gear experience in the fans’ eyes and make it an important part of their Metal Gear enjoyment.

We have always placed heavy emphasis on having an attractive web design to match the visually pleasing style and graphics Metal Gear games have. But we have also come to understand that content we can deliver is just as important as having a pretty design, if not even more. That’s why we focused more on content than just design with version 3. We plan to continue this path by providing frequent content updates and new downloads that will make visitors want to keep revisiting TUS. Another thing you can expect from TUS is that we will cover all the Metal Gear games equally without any bias, so you can expect equal amount of downloads and content updates for all Metal Gear games.

MGS: The Unofficial Site will also use its connections with Kojima Productions to provide the visitors with exclusive news, downloads and opportunities to join Konami sponsored events. Our goal is also to give the developers accurate fan feedback regarding the different projects Kojima Productions is working on.

Our Community

Similar to the international origins of our TUS Staff, our community consists of MGS fans from all over the world. Many of these community members are dedicated fans of the series, so you can expect to read some of the best metal gear fan fictions, theories and topics ever posted on the web. Our community is currently the biggest English based Metal Gear community on the web.
